Miniature of Mutant Chronicles from the first edition of the RPG

I’ve discovered the existence of the rpg’s miniature when i’m searching some Algeroth units, Alakhai in the specific, for create a team.

I’ve searched for it:

Miniature of Mutant Chronicles from the first edition of the RPG - Alakhai

And found it:

Miniature of Mutant Chronicles from the first edition of the RPG - 8115 - nepharite alakhai - dark legion - 1994 - hhg - unknown (blister)

After the first “mhh…” i’m completly be happy for the discover!

So that day, after a first paceful idea to collect a small force of Algeroth’s troops, i started the idea to collect every model from the rpg (role playing game). After that idea, i’ve another one idea and now my goal it’s to have one copy of it outside the blister (mission accomplish) and another copy inside the blister (yet not done, i’m missing this: if you have it send me a email). And have one copy of every miniature produced with the Mutant Chronicles brand, but this is another story….

So, go back to the rpg’s miniatures produced by the Heartbreaker Hobby Games (HHG).

This miniatures have one primate: the first miniature created for Mutant Chronicles are for the rpg, not for the boardgame. The first miniature of the rpg are from 1992, when the boardgame come one year later, in the 1993.

When i first discover that miniatures, my first question was: “where i can find a complete list of that miniatures?“.

If i remind correctly, one help come to me from the italian community. So a find that list in the last page of the rpg’s book The Brotherhood. The cleansing flame of the Cardinal (1993).

Here a photo of that list:

So i start to search each miniature of this set.

During my research i found inside Sinkadus n°38 (1993), a photo of the paper cardboard present behind each blister of the game.

I call the miniatures with that 2 kind of background:

  • BLUE NEPHARITE BACKGROUND
  • RED RANGER BACKGROUND

I’ve found miniature from this set come from the 1992 to the 1995, so i think this kind of background was born with the rpg and continues with the miniature wargame.

The most interessent thing it’s that: some blister have a version with two miniatures (english edition) or with one single miniature (swedish edition).

In that caos, there’s another thing that make everything more confused: the existence of a third background’s blister:

  • FULL BLUE BACKGROUND

Miniature of Mutant Chronicles from the first edition of the RPG - 7001 - nepharite - dark legion - 1992 - hhg - unknown (blister)

This is the more old miniature’s background (i think), because i’ve only miniatures from the 1992 with that minimal graphic. With a minimal logo, with the big work “MUTANT” over the little other “chronicles”.

This is, at last,  a trace of the origin of Mutant Chronicles from the swedish rpg Mutant.

In conclusion, it’s very hard to identify the miniature from the rpg. A start point it’s the list behind The Brotherhood, and another point it’s following the 3 background path:

  • Full Blue (the oldest)
  • Blue Nepharite
  • Red Ranger

My suggestion it’s to follow only the blue nepharite, but not the red ranger background (because it have too much new design), but only the blue nepharite background.

Why i say that? Because i have 5 blister of that kind with, some new wargame miniatures and some old rpg’s miniatures:

  1. Imperial soldiers (new)
  2. Imperial Rams (new)
  3. Overlord Alakhai (old)
  4. Centurion + Legionnaire (old)
  5. Necromutant + Legionnaire (old)

You want to be more “conservative”? Limit the list of miniature from the rpg at the list reported in The Brotherhood and exclude this last five.

That’s my conclusion: there’s 33 blister /40 miniature (for the conservative) or 38 blister / 48 miniature (for the more free).

Here’s the complete list with code i’ve extracted from The Brotherhood or from the blister i’ve in my house.
